Since 1980
JACOB pipe-work has been tested under dynamic loads at explosion conditions.
There are certificates of the Institute
for Explosion Protection and Blasting Technology (Testing Facility for
Mining Projects), Dortmund (Germany) and from the Development Committee
of Structural Safety & Health at Work, Mannheim (research dept. Kappelrodeck)
for the pipe-work listed.
1. Shock
explosion proof up to 3 bar overpressure
1.1 Pipes and assemblies
2 mm (1,5 mm) wall-thickness machine-lip flanged up to diameter 300
mm inclusive, connection with galvanized or st/st
pull-rings with U-shaped seal or Quick-Connect pull-rings with U-shaped
seals

4/7969a (please specify tightness against shock explosions required when
placing the order)

Throttle valves with seal, 2 mm thick
1.2 Throttle valves with seal, 2 mm wall-thickness up to diameter 300
mm inclusive,
pneumatically or electrically operated, are also tested as
shock explosion proof lock-mechanism with a reinforced version of the
inner flap according to drawing 4/7982a
1.3 Pipes and assemblies machine-lip flanged, 1 mm wall-thickness, diameter
80 mm,
connection with galvanized or st/st pull-rings with U-shaped seal or
Quick-Connect pull-rings with U-shaped seals
In the standard stock programm there are pipe-works with diameter 80
mm only in 1 mm
wall-thickness, which, however, have not been tested in tightness against
shock explosions.
Therefore the stability of these pipe-works has been found out by an
internal water-
pressure-test. Pipes L=2000 mm, forks, bends, segments and pull-rings
have withstood an
inner water-pressure of 10 bar, so you can conclude, that such pipe-works
could be used in
plants with 3 bar tightness against shock explosions. Pipe-works, diameter
80 mm made to
specification can be manufactured also for a few components in 1,5 mm
or 2 mm wall-
thickness (in this case have a look at 1.1)
1.4 Pipes and assemblies 10 mm machine-lip flanged, 2 mm and 3 mm wall-thickness,
diameter=350 up to 500 mm repectively 630 mm inclusive, connection with
loose flange
with specification acc. DIN 24154-T2, with U-shaped seal for 10 mm
Tested in dynamic
load by explosion and certified up to 3 bar shock
explosion proof are pipe-works listed:
Pipes up to L=2000 mm up to diameter=630 mm, 2 mm wall-thickness
Inspection-pipes with lock handle, reinforced version acc. to drawing
21DSF 018, up to
diameter=630 mm included, 2 mm wall-thickness (please specify tightness
against shock explosions required when placing the order)
Bends 30 degree up to 90 degree to diameter=630 mm inclusive, 2 mm
wall-thickness
Segments 5 degree up to 45 degree to diameter=630 mm inclusive, 2 mm
thick
Cone-piece up to diameter=630 mm inclusive, 2 mm wall-thickness
Forks and conical forks 30 degree and 45 degree up to diameter=500
mm inclusive, 2 mm wall-thickness
Forks and conical forks 30 degree and 45 degree up to diameter=630
mm inclusive, 3 mm wall-thickness
Symmetrical forks 60 degree and 90 degree up to diameter=500 mm inclusive,
2 mm thick
Symmetrical forks 60 degree and 90 degree up to diameter=630 mm inclusive,
3 mm thick
T-pieces up to diameter=500 mm inclusive, 2 mm wall-thickness
T-pieces up to diameter=630 mm inclusive, 3 mm wall-thickness Branches like symmetrical
forks, forks and T-pieces, 3 mm wall-thickness (necessary for diameter >500
mm), with loose flange are only available in painted mild steel or
galvanized. In 3 mm stainless steel version
you have weld on the flanges.
Forks and conical symmetrical
forks with branches diameter<=300 mm
are machine-lip flanged on this ends for the pull-ring connection. Only
branches with diameter>300 mm have a loose flange.
1.5 Restrictions
Cleaning-pipes, push-in-pipes and air flow control gates are not shock
explosion proof. Segments with diameter=140 mm and 224 mm as well
as bends in stainless steel are shown in the price-list only
in 1,5 mm wall-thickness, however are not tested by the above mentioned
institute. But this pipe-works can be seen as 3 bar t shock
explosion proof because of company-internal water-pressure tests. If
requested, a company-certificate is available.
To make sure that the connection
is shock explosion proof you have to tighten the screws correctly (torque
setting 25 Nm). By using
a loose flange connection the screws M10 (M12) have to be tightened
with 40 Nm (60 Nm).
2. Shock
explosion proof up to 6 bar overpressure
2.1 Pipes and pipe-works 3 mm wall-thickness
Mild steel machine-lip flanged up to diameter=300 mm inclusive,
connection with st/st pull-rings with long-lasting sealant
Tested and certified are the following pipe-works:
Pipes L=50 mm up to 2000 mm
Segments 5 degree up to 45 degree
Bends 30 degree up to 90 degree
Forks 30 degree and 45 degree (surcharge) - compared with standard version
these components are additionally counterwelded in the root (please specify
tightness against shock explosions required when placing the order)
Inspection T-pieces - inspection opening closed by blank-off cover, 2
mm thick, connected by pull-ring (please specify tightness against shock
explosions required when placing the order)
Spouts from square to round, square with reinforced flange, 8 mm thick,
acc. to drawing 4/7970a (please specify tightness against shock explosions
required when placing the order)
Two-way-valves with inner collar, without inner seal, symmetrical and
asymmetrical (two-way-valves have been tested in tightness against shock
explosions to the outside, not through the closed-off branch). By use of galvanized pull-rings the tightness against shock explosions
has to be reduced down to 3 bar overpressure.
3.
Shock explosion proof up to 10 bar overpressure
3.1 Pipes and pipe-works 2 mm thick
Welded-on slip over flanges up to diameter 300 mm. Connection by special
pull-rings.
Tested and certified are:
Pipes up to L=2000 mm
Forks 30 degree and 45 degree
Bends 30 degree up to 90 degree
End-covers 3.2 Pipes and assemblies up to diameter=630 mm inclusive, 3 mm thick,
with welded-on
flanges and flat gaskets acc. to drawing 21 DSF 001
Tested and certified are:
Pipes up to L=2000 mm
Segmentbends 30 degree up to 90 degree
4. Summary
You have to check regularly all the pipe-works for wear and tear and
corrosion so that the tightness against shock explosions will be kept.
Deteriorated components must be exchanged.
If required, we will send you a copy of the above mentioned certifcated.
